Quality and responsibility, from the mountainside up
Colombian coffee is grown by hundreds of thousands of smallholder families on steep tropical slopes. Sourcing through the cooperatives lets Expocafé connect those growers to the world — and invest back in the people and places behind the coffee.
The Colombian coffee belt
Colombia's coffee grows along the Andes and the Sierra Nevada, broadly between 1,200 and 2,000 metres above sea level, across more than 600 municipalities. Altitude, volcanic soils, a tropical climate and two harvest seasons let Colombia produce 100% washed Arabica year-round — the clean, balanced cup the world uses as its benchmark.
Each region — from Nariño and Huila in the south to Antioquia and the central belt — brings its own character. Sourcing through regional cooperatives lets us offer that diversity with traceability back to the growing area.

Sustainability through the cooperative model
Working through the grower cooperatives is itself a sustainability strategy — it keeps value close to producers, organises smallholders and underpins the traceability buyers need.
Producer well-being
Sourcing through cooperatives supports the smallholder families who grow Colombian coffee — giving them scale, services and a fair, organised route to the export market, in the spirit of working hand in hand with the producer.
Responsibly grown
Through Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Fairtrade and organic programs, we offer coffee grown to environmental and social standards — and support the agronomy and research that keep Colombian coffee resilient.
Traceability
Because every lot is sourced through the cooperative network, it traces back to the communities and regions behind it — the transparency your customers, auditors and brand increasingly require.

Why Colombian washed Arabica is the benchmark
Colombia is the world's largest producer of washed Arabica and its coffee is the reference point for a clean, sweet, balanced cup. Hand-picking selective ripe cherries and washing the coffee on the farm removes defects and protects clarity in the cup.
That combination of terroir and care is why roasters worldwide build blends and single origins around Colombian coffee — and why traceable, certified Colombian lots command premiums in demanding markets.
